Born in Ohio, now a resident of Portsmouth, Va. Founded the art department at Old Dominion University in 1958 and taught there until he retired in 1989, with the rank of professor emeritus. This artist’s powerful landscapes and expressive figurative work have arguably made him Hampton Roads’ most accomplished and significant artist . His paintings can be found in public and private collections throughout the U.S. and are on permanent display at the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk.
